What Does “Expired” Mean on a CHSI or CSSD Report?

Several different dates and functions can be confused:

• The academic record: the qualification, degree or period of study recorded by the university and relevant education system.
• The PDF: the copy you downloaded. Keeping the file does not guarantee that its online verification remains active.
• The online verification period: the period during which the official code or link can be checked online.
• The QR code: a route to the official verification service; it may not produce an active result after the applicable verification period.
• The recipient’s recency rule: an overseas organization may independently require a report issued, verified or delivered within a stated period.

The CHSI online verification instructions distinguish the report’s verification validity from the education information it displays. Extending the former should not be described as extending the validity of a degree.

First Identify the Exact Report Type

CHSI/CSSD does not use one single “CHSI report” for every purpose. The official service distinguishes online verification reports from formal verification reports. Start with the title printed on the document and the service through which it was issued.

The official English names above follow CHSI’s online verification report overview. English wording on a historical document may differ, so use the printed title and service route rather than translating the title yourself.

Can an Expired CHSI Report Be Extended?

CHSI’s current official guidance expressly identifies three reports that can use the online extension function: the Online Verification Report of Student Record, Online Verification Report of Higher Education Qualification Certificate and Online Verification Report of Higher Education Degree Certificate.

The Chinese guidance says a holder may extend within one month before expiry or after the report has expired. The official CHSI extension page directs the user to CHSI Archive and the issued online report.

This should not be generalized to every CSSD product. CHSI’s official service overview separates online reports from formal qualification, degree and transcript verification. The public extension instructions reviewed do not confirm that every formal report uses the same extension function.

How to Extend the Online Verification Period

For one of the supported online reports, the official route is:

1. Sign in to the correct CHSI Archive account. Use the account that contains the education record and issued report.
2. Open Online Verification Reports. Confirm that the report shown is the same type and number as your saved copy.
3. Check the current status. Review the report title, verification code and displayed validity.
4. Use the extension function offered for that report. CHSI’s Chinese guidance labels this function “延长验证有效期”.
5. Select from the options currently displayed. Availability, permitted period and any charge should be taken from the live account rather than an old screenshot.
6. Complete the platform steps. Do not share passwords, SMS codes or real-name verification credentials with a third party.
7. Re-open the report. Test the online verification result and QR code, and download the current output if the recipient permits a PDF.
8. Keep evidence of submission. Save the current report and the recipient’s instructions.

The CHSI English verification page says extension is currently accessible to CHSI Archive users. If you cannot access the account, solve the account or identity issue through the official platform; do not create inconsistent records merely to obtain another login.

Does Extending the Report Change the Report Number?

The official public material reviewed does not provide one reliable answer covering every report, historical format and English output. Do not assume that all identifiers remain unchanged or that a saved PDF updates itself.

If the current output differs from a document already submitted, follow the recipient’s replacement-document or update instructions.

How to Send a CHSI Report Overseas

An active report can still be sent through the wrong channel. Overseas organizations may ask for an online link, a QR-verifiable PDF, applicant upload or official electronic delivery. A downloaded PDF is not automatically sufficient for every recipient.

CHSI’s official digital-transmission guidance describes delivery of applicable CSSD verification reports to supported partner organizations. That is distinct from emailing a PDF yourself. Before sending, confirm:

• the exact report type and language;
• whether active online verification is required;
• whether the applicant may upload the document;
• whether CHSI/CSSD must transmit it through an official channel; and
• whether the recipient imposes an issue-date or recency rule beyond CHSI validity.

Does WES Accept an Extended CHSI or CSSD Report?

There is no universal yes. WES controls the Required Documents and submission route for the applicant’s education history and evaluation. An extended online verification period does not automatically satisfy a requirement for CSSD to send a particular report.

Start with the WES Required Documents tool and the current instructions in the applicant’s account. If WES requires CSSD delivery, use the official route rather than assuming an uploaded PDF or QR code is enough.

What If the Report Cannot Be Extended?

Use a diagnosis sequence instead of repeatedly pressing the same option:

1. Confirm that the document is one of the three supported online report types.
2. Confirm that you are signed into the CHSI Archive account containing that report.
3. Check whether the document belongs to a different formal CHSI/CSSD verification service.
4. Resolve historical account, mobile-number, email or identity-access problems through official support.
5. Check whether the service requires a new application rather than an extension.
6. Contact CHSI/CSSD official support for a platform, report or delivery problem.
7. Contact the university only when the underlying education record or archive data requires correction or confirmation.
8. Ask the overseas recipient whether it requires a new report, active verification or another delivery method.

For example, CSSD’s formal verification application guidance and its transcript verification report guidance describe services separate from the three online reports named on the extension page. No identical extension button should be promised for those reports without checking the current service.

Old Passport, Changed Name or Account Problems

International graduates may find that CHSI or university data uses the passport number and name held during study. A renewed passport does not automatically replace that historical identity information.

Keep your current passport and any available old passport number, scan, Chinese visa, residence permit, certificate copy and name-change evidence. CHSI’s guidance for international graduates emphasizes matching the study-period passport number and the name recorded on the graduation certificate, including letter case, in its registration-and-query context. This does not make an old passport a universal requirement for every report extension; the platform decides what evidence is required for account or record matching.

When Should You Contact the Chinese University?

A report’s online expiry normally points first to the report platform, not to an error in the university’s academic record. Contact the university when the source record is missing, incorrect or requires archive confirmation—not merely because an online verification period ended.

• University: source academic data, archives, transcripts and university-issued documents.
• CHSI/CSSD: account access, report application, verification status and supported delivery services.
• Overseas recipient: accepted report type, language, recency and submission channel.

If the required transcript is missing, review how to obtain an old Chinese university transcript after graduation. Do not ask the university to alter a correct record simply to refresh an expired CHSI link.

1. Identify the report. Copy its exact printed title and note which official service issued it.
2. Check what expired. Separate online verification validity from the education record and the recipient’s own recency rule.
3. Read the recipient’s current requirements. Confirm report type, language and sender.
4. Check for the official extension route. Use CHSI Archive for the three named online reports.
5. Extend or reapply through the correct service. Do not assume formal reports use the same route.
6. Verify the refreshed details. Test the code, QR and URL and confirm identity data.
7. Send through the required channel. Use applicant upload, online verification or official digital delivery as specified.
8. Keep proof of submission. Save the report version and the recipient’s instructions.
